0 B uploaded — this page has not sent your files to any server?

Private by design — this tool never uploads your files anywhere. All conversion happens inside your browser, and the result is saved straight to your device. How this differs from upload-based sites — most converter sites upload your photo to a server, process it there, and promise to delete it after a while. Until that happens, your photo is sitting on someone else's server. imgmoa has no upload step at all. The more sensitive the photo — a scanned ID, a photographed contract, pictures of your kids — the more that difference matters.

iPhone HEIC photos won’t open on Windows or upload forms? Convert them to JPG

HEIC has been the iPhone’s default photo format since iOS 11, which is why Windows, many upload forms and older programs refuse to open or accept it. This tool converts a whole batch of HEIC files to JPG at once and lets you set a maximum width and the quality if you need to. Conversion happens in your browser, so your photos are never uploaded.

A closer look

HEIC applies video compression technology (HEVC) to still photos, which is how it stores the same quality in a smaller file than JPG. The catch is that it won’t open anywhere without a decoder, and browsers such as Chrome can’t display HEIC on their own. So on the first conversion this tool loads a HEIC decoder module, unpacks the photo, and saves the result again as JPG inside your browser. The default quality of 92% is hard to tell apart by eye, but because JPG compresses less efficiently than HEIC, the output is often larger than the original file.

What moves into the JPG is the picture itself. EXIF data such as the capture date, GPS location and camera details is not written to the new file, so date sorting in photo apps may change, although it also means your location doesn’t leak. For a Live Photo, only the still image is converted, since the motion part is a separate video file, and a HEIC containing several images converts only the first one. Decoding is heavy work for the browser, so a large batch of high-resolution photos takes a while.

How to use it

When it helps

Opening photos on a Windows PCWhen iPhone photos copied over by cable or cloud won’t open on Windows, convert them to JPG instead of hunting for extra codecs.
Application and upload formsConvert before uploading an ID photo or document scan to government, school or job sites that only take JPG or PNG.
Sharing with Android usersConvert dozens of HEIC photos from a trip album into one ZIP that anyone can open, whatever phone they use.
Blog uploadsSet the max width to around 1600px so conversion and downsizing happen in one step and uploads stay light.

Common snags

The date and location are gone from the converted photos.EXIF data isn’t carried over when the JPG is created. If you need the dates, keep the original HEIC files as well.
The JPG is bigger than the HEIC.JPG compresses less efficiently than HEIC. Lowering the quality a little or setting a max width reduces the size.
Conversion seems slow or stuck.HEIC decoding is heavy, so even one high-resolution photo takes time. As long as the counter such as (3/20) keeps moving, leave the tab open and wait.
Only some files say “Could not read image”.Those files may be damaged or use a variant the decoder doesn’t support. Failed files stay in the list with the reason while the rest keep converting, so save the successful ones first.

Tip To have future photos saved as JPG from the start, go to Settings > Camera > Formats on your iPhone and choose “Most Compatible”; convert the HEIC photos you already have here.

HEIC to JPG — FAQ

Why convert HEIC to JPG?

HEIC is the iPhone's default photo format, while JPG is the most widely used photo format. Convert when an app or website doesn't accept HEIC, or to fix size and compatibility issues.

Why won't my iPhone photos (HEIC) open?

HEIC is Apple's default format, but Windows and many websites don't support it. Converting to JPG makes it work everywhere. The first conversion loads a small module and may take a few seconds.

What about transparency?

JPG doesn't support transparency, so transparent areas become white. Choose PNG or WebP to keep transparency.

Is it free? Are my files safe?

Completely free with no limits. Your files are processed inside your browser and never uploaded to any server.
