Why imgmoa exists

imgmoa is the image part of moatool (moatool.app), a family of free browser tools. It is built and maintained by one independent developer, not a company. It started with format conversion and grew one tool at a time: compression, cropping, blurring, OCR, and AI tools such as background removal and upscaling.

Why your photos are not uploaded

The photos people bring to a converter include ID scans, children’s faces and listing photos that still carry the home’s GPS location. Sending those to a stranger’s server on the promise that they will be "deleted later" never made sense. So every imgmoa tool runs entirely inside your browser. The AI tools download their model file once; after that, your photos are processed on your own device and go nowhere. The "0 B uploaded" counter on each page and your browser’s network tab both let you check.

How it stays free

With no server processing photos, fixed costs are tiny, so the tools stay free with no sign-up, quotas or watermarks. Running costs are covered by ads, and a paid Pro option removes them for people who prefer that. Ads have nothing to do with how your photos are handled.

What it can and cannot do

Limits are written on the pages. Upscaling does not recover lost detail; it draws plausible new detail, so the page warns against using it for identification or as evidence. RAW conversion applies the camera’s white balance but cannot reproduce each maker’s own color style. Guides to each tool are in the blog (in Korean).
