Your photos never leave your device — the AI runs in your browser

Remove Background (AI Cutout)

AI erases the background from people and products and saves the result as a transparent PNG.

0 B uploaded — this page has not sent your files to any server?

Safe for photos of people — other background removers upload your photo to their servers. This tool brings the background remover into your browser and runs it on your own device. The photo is never sent anywhere. How this differs from upload-based sites — most converter sites upload your photo to a server, process it there, and promise to delete it after a while. Until that happens, your photo is sitting on someone else's server. imgmoa has no upload step at all. The more sensitive the photo — a scanned ID, a photographed contract, pictures of your kids — the more that difference matters.

Cut a person or product out of a photo without Photoshop

You don’t need to install an editor and learn the pen tool just to get rid of a messy background. Drop in one photo, press Remove background, and an AI model finds the subject, makes everything else transparent, and lets you fill the space with white, blue or any color before saving a PNG. The model runs in your browser, so even photos with faces are never uploaded.

A closer look

Most background removers send your photo to a server. This one does the opposite: the first time you use it, the background remover (about 16 MB) downloads into your browser and runs on your own device. The model shrinks the photo to 320 × 320 pixels, decides which parts belong to the subject and produces a mask; that mask is then stretched back to the original size and used to make the background transparent. The output keeps the full resolution of your photo, but the precision of the edge comes from that 320-pixel judgment. That is why single strands of hair, bicycle spokes or a glass of water can come out soft.

The result is always a PNG, because PNG can store transparency. Even when you fill the background with white, blue, red or a custom color, the file is still a PNG, and since PNG is lossless it is often several times larger than the original JPG. Photos are processed one at a time; once the model is loaded, each photo takes about 1–3 seconds. There is no brush for erasing or restoring edges by hand, so if the automatic result misses, changing the framing and running it again is the quickest fix.

How to use it

When it helps

Resale listingsReplace the cluttered floor or laundry rack behind an item with plain white so the listing photo looks tidy.
ID-style photosFill the background behind a portrait with white or blue. For an official application, check the required background color and size first.
Slides and product pagesSave with transparency and place the cutout on a slide or web page without a white box around it.
Pet profile picturesLift your pet out of a busy room and set it on a solid color for a chat profile or a sticker-style image.

Common snags

Hair and thin edges look mushy.Detection happens on a 320 × 320 version of the photo. Crop the photo first so the subject fills the frame, then run it again; the subject gets more of those 320 pixels and the edge becomes noticeably cleaner.
Part of the subject disappears, or bits of background remain. The model treats the most prominent object as the subject. When the subject and background share colors, or several objects are scattered around, that decision wobbles. Reshoot against a plain wall or narrow the frame to one object.
The saved PNG is much bigger than my photo.PNG is lossless, which makes photographic images heavy. If you filled the background with a solid color and don’t need transparency, convert the PNG to JPG or run it through Compress Images.
It says “Something went wrong: Could not read the image.”The file is probably in a format your browser can’t open, such as iPhone HEIC. Convert it with HEIC to JPG first, then try again.

Tip The first run downloads about 16 MB, so start on Wi-Fi if you are on a phone, and keep the page open when doing several photos: the model stays loaded and each new photo starts right away.

Remove Background — FAQ

Which photos work best?

It works well on photos of people, pets and products where the subject stands out from the background. Fine edges such as hair, or a subject that is a similar colour to the background, may not come out perfectly.

What format is the result?

A PNG with a transparent background. If you pick a background colour, the PNG is saved filled with that colour — white and blue also work as ID photo backgrounds.

Is it slow?

Only the first run downloads the background remover (~16 MB), which takes a few seconds. After that each photo takes about 1–3 seconds.
