0 B uploaded — this page has not sent your files to any server?

Private by design — your photo is never uploaded anywhere. Cropping happens entirely inside your browser and the result is saved straight to your device. It even works offline. How this differs from upload-based sites — most converter sites upload your photo to a server, process it there, and promise to delete it after a while. Until that happens, your photo is sitting on someone else's server. imgmoa has no upload step at all. The more sensitive the photo — a scanned ID, a photographed contract, pictures of your kids — the more that difference matters.

Crop to an exact ratio or pixel size without losing quality

A quick drag in a basic image editor tends to give you something that is almost, but not quite, square. This tool locks a ratio while you select, or takes exact X/Y positions and width/height in pixels, and handles rotating and flipping on the same screen. Your photo never leaves the browser.

A closer look

The photo on screen is a scaled-down preview, but the selection is always tracked in the original image’s pixel coordinates. When you save, the pixels inside that rectangle are copied straight from the original, so the cropped area is exactly as sharp as it was. The flip side is that cropping never enlarges or shrinks the photo. Typing 1080 as the width selects 1080 pixels of the original; it does not scale the picture down to 1080 pixels, and values larger than the photo are capped at its size. To turn a 4000-pixel photo into 1080 × 1080, crop at 1:1 first and then scale it down with Resize Image.

You can save as JPG (the default) or PNG. JPG is saved at 92% quality with transparent areas filled in white, while PNG is lossless and keeps transparency. Rotating 90° and flipping horizontally or vertically apply to the whole photo, and the selection moves along with it. The output is a newly created file, so the original’s camera data (EXIF) is not carried over. You work on one photo at a time, and an animated GIF is saved as a still of its first frame.

How to use it

When it helps

YouTube thumbnails and ShortsLock 16:9 for a video thumbnail or 9:16 for a Shorts, Reels or Stories cover so nothing gets cut off on the platform.
Passport and ID ratiosUse 3:4 to center a face for ID photos, then scale the result to the pixel size the application asks for.
Cleaning up screenshotsTrim the status bar and other windows out of a capture and keep only the part you want to paste into a document or chat.
Consistent product imagesCrop every shop or resale photo to 1:1 so the listing grid doesn’t look uneven.

Common snags

My transparent PNG came out with a white background. The default save format is JPG, which fills transparent areas with white. Switch the format to PNG before saving.
I typed a large width or height and got a smaller box.The selection can only exist inside the original photo, so values larger than the image are reduced. To make the photo itself bigger, use Resize Image or the AI Image Upscaler.
The ratio won’t change when I drag a handle. While a ratio button is active, every handle keeps that ratio. Press Free to resize freely.
My photo won’t open.JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP and GIF are accepted. Formats your browser can’t open, such as iPhone HEIC, show “Could not read this image”, so convert with HEIC to JPG first.

Tip Once the box is large enough, rule-of-thirds guides appear inside it; placing a person’s eyes or your product where the lines cross gives a steadier composition.

Crop Image — FAQ

When should I use the aspect ratio presets?

Instagram posts are 1:1, YouTube thumbnails 16:9, Reels/Stories/Shorts 9:16. Once a ratio is locked, the selection keeps that ratio no matter how you drag the handles.

Can I crop to an exact pixel size?

Yes — type numbers into the Width/Height fields and the selection snaps to that size. Dragging updates the numbers in real time, and X/Y set the exact position.

Does cropping reduce quality?

The preview is scaled down, but the crop is computed on the original resolution, so the cropped pixels are untouched. PNG is lossless; JPG is saved at high quality (92%).

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

No. Everything from file selection to saving runs inside your browser — nothing goes over the network.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes — drag the selection and handles with your finger.
