Why convert GIF to BMP?
GIF is an animated image format (only the first frame is converted), while BMP is an uncompressed bitmap format. Convert when an app or website doesn't accept GIF, or to fix size and compatibility issues.
What happens to animated GIFs?

What about transparency?
